Durango
We stopped off in Durango, CO on the way to Salt Lake City. Its a really nice little ski town Southwest of Denver. Durango is set inside the mountains so the view is absolutely gorgeous from anywhere in the city.
There are a lot of farms and cool little ranches close to the mountain edge. I can just imagine how cold and snowy it gets there during the winter, I am sure many people get snowed in over the winter months.
We drove around the city for awhile and came across a skinny little road leading up into the mountains. We followed it up and it led us to the gates of Greenmount Cemetery. Below are some photo's of what we found in there.....it was so pretty!!
There were deer everywhere!!
It was such a peaceful, charming cemetery. It is positioned in the mountains with a view overlooking the whole city.
This guy was very curious and not shy at all. He came so close to us, posed perfectly and then continued eating the grass.
I am sure the locals aren't happy with the deer eating all the flowers.
The flowers and deer against the inanimate headstones really make you think about the circle of life. Seeing wildlife all over the cemetery was very very calming and peaceful.
This deer was so cute and fuzzy looking
I think that this is a very powerful shot. The deer represents life and is looking straight back at me as if it is surprised to see another being in this quiet, resting place. The statue of Jesus on the cross stands tall in the distance against the mountainous backdrop.
Nature, religion, life and death are all together in this one frame.
On the drive back down from the cemetery it got a little windy and the sky began to change colour very quickly.
Durango is a very cool little city that has a lot of character and feels really safe. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, therefore I am really glad we stopped off here for a week. I will definitely not forget that cemetery as I had never seen anything like it before. It was such a beautiful sight to see in such a beautiful city.
The weather is rolling in, we better get moving to our next destination.........
