I have realized as I have been traveling around these last few weeks, that I seem to be extremely drawn to power lines, cables, cranes and all sorts of construction. Basically anything semi-mechanical and geometric in structure.
Let me know what you think of these photos. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.
Coils
The angles and the way that the wires cross really enhance this photo. All kinds of geometric shapes are formed. You really get a sense of how tight the wires are attached to the coils, don't you just want to ping them?!
Oil Rig. Taking a break.
The horizontal line across the top makes the 'Oil rig' so much more interesting, your eye is drawn up towards it. It makes you wonder what it attaches to.
'In taking a break' the birds seem to just be chilling on this sharp and uncomfortable wire. They look so tiny compared to the grandeur of this structure.
The Four Fathers....Four Flags and Four wires
The traffic lights in Texas are so cool, they hang on wires horizontally. I am assuming this makes them much more secure for hurricanes, so they can sway with the wind.
Take a look below. This shot looks so eery and deserted, it was a really small town.
We wait.
I think it is the crisscrossing of the wires in all different directions that attracts me. Almost like 'cats cradle' remember that game girls?
Connections.
The contrast between the black and white is what really sets this photo off.
Take a look in my 'Photography Album', I added a few more 'Cable Art' photo's (I think that's what I will call it). One of my favourite's is the ' Bird on a wire' photograph.
I have got Brent liking Cable Art too. Now I wont feel bad asking him to pull over every time I see a cluster of wires, and in Texas that's every 5 minutes!
I feel a cable/construction collage coming on.
Until we meet again.....
